eScan Data Systems’ Healthcare Eligibility Search Engine is Awarded Key Patent

eScan Data Systems, Inc. is pleased to announce that on Aug 17, 2010, the first of three patents was issued for the core technology behind its state-of-the-art eligibility search engine with integrated error correction.

Austin, Texas August 20, 2010 -- Since 2002, eScan Data Systems has been developing a set of proprietary technologies which are designed to bridge the communication gap between health insurance and service provider databases. The awarded patent covers a broad range of processes designed to find matches between two or more databases which do not share a common data retrieval key and where one or more of the databases may contain errors or alternate data representations and where methods of querying at least one of the databases is tightly constrained. The technology behind eScan’s newly granted patent builds a virtual searchable database designed to isolate and report every legitimate match while suppressing incorrect matches.

eScan is the only company licensed to use this technology. “eScan’s system allows us to provide a unique solution to our hospital clients.” said John Wester, eScan’s CEO. “eScan is designed to run behind all existing hospital eligibility discovery processes (including other vendors who purport to have an ‘eScan-like’ product). We have consistently found previously unknown coverage missed by provider and vendor existing processes, increasing hospital Medicaid reimbursements by 1-3%.”

eScan’s follow up patents build on the foundation laid by this first core technology patent - Further enhancing eScan’s unique position in the market place as undisputed technology leader.
